Services
All classes have changed format and schedule. We are now running Zoom for the majority of our classes. We now offer courses in the ten class format. The first class will be in person. This will allow us to recieve and verify your identifcation as is required by state law. We will also use this time to get to know your learning style.
The following is a synopsis of the documents and classes necessary to apply to become a Class- B driving instructor in the State of Maine. Your diploma. Defensive driving class certificate. Instructors Driver's Education instruction class offered by Mullen's Driving School. 3 hours at no cost. 5 hours driving with an instructor licensed to teach class B driving instructors offered at no cost. This will qualify you for the driving and written test. After you pass your test you will be qualified to be employed by Mullen's driving school.
From the STATE: Also, if you have already completed the AAA online How to Drive course, we will accept that again, for the 2020 renewal year. That course is 25 hours and fulfills the entire 16 hours of continued education. I believe the cost is approximately $25. We will also honor the AAA online Mature Operator course which is approved for 5 hours.
We have been refining the way we teach drivers education since 1989. In that year the company was founded by Robert Mullen. He operated the company with honesty and expected the same of his employees. In 2018 his son, Ben Mullen purchased the company and continues with the same values. At the driving school we are proud of our stong maine work ethic, and continue the tradition of honest education. We have adapted our teaching style to a new digital format and continue to offer solid, safe behind the wheel instruction.

Two hours of driving left, yet we're going on week 4 of no driving with an instructor. Four cancelled appointments, one double booked, and a no show. Rescheduled for this weekend only to be cancelled on again. The owner was made aware with not as much as a call to rectify. When the instructor was asked about the no show, he blamed us because both my son and my phone "must not be working". They took our money quite quickly though.

Karen in absolutely amazing! She truly does care about her students. Anybody can get up infront of a class and teach. Karen does more than that! She keeps us engaged and made sure we knew the material! Karen is also a kind woman at heart. She is a nice sweet lady that in my opinion reflects a good sweet Christian woman. Anybody who goes through Mullen's NEEDS Karen! Thank you for all you have done Karen!

I took and finished the classroom classes in September and it's taken till January to finish my driving hours. Teachers do not respond very quickly(takes upwards of three days) and sometimes they don't respond for weeks. I'm still very uncomfortable on the road because I've gone through four weeks without driving. Teachers also have an issue with being too harsh, instead of correcting a mistake in the first hour the instructor let me continue to make the mistake for two more lessons till they blew up at me for being inexperienced, even though it was one of the first times I'd every driven anything. Instructor also does not understand that many(it not all) students have no driving experience going into drivers ed.

I didn't even want to give them this one star! Unfortunately I couldn't get here without being generous! They are the worst driving school ever in the state of Maine! Call for an appointment and they can't even let us know that a driver is not available for time and day! Nope, had to show up to find out no driver on day of road test
