Roadmaster Drivers School's formula for success is simple. We are an industry-leading CDL training school that provides experienced truck driving school instructors and offers students comprehensive CDL classes and behind-the-wheel truck driving education so they are fully prepared to start their new job in the trucking industry.
Truck Drivers must hold an interstate Class A CDL License to drive their tractor-trailers on trips across state lines. Truck Driving Schools, like Roadmaster, help prepare you to get your Class A CDL Drivers license in about a month. Once you have your Class A CDL, you are ready to head to your new employer for additional training and onboarding.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the truck driving industry value the safety that results from standards in professional driver training. A uniform national benchmark works towards this goal by making sure that all drivers learn the same basic safety skills, regardless of the state in which they obtained training.
A commercial learner's permit, or CLP, is a driver's permit that lets you practice driving a commercial vehicle while you're sitting next to a CDL holder. Simply put, it's the precursor to getting a commercial driver's license (CDL), which you'll need if you want to drive commercial trucks as a career.

Everyone at the school was great! Major shout out to Chris, Ken and Bill! Thanks for everything Mr John and JD! I would recommend the Tampa location no matter where you're from. I'm from Illinois and I would make the trip again to get the knowledge I got from these gals and guys! You will not be disappointed. They are very thorough and can answer any question you may have about your CDL and they will go above and beyond to make sure you succeed! If you want it REAL BAD, attend the TAMPA location and you will get it

Information varied from the first phone call to the information given at the appointment. The whole point of being recruited is to make one feel comfortable with the decision they are about to make. It's a quick tour and then let's get you signed up. I suggest you write your questions down ahead of time. I am committed to getting my Class A license, just the way I was treated made me enroll somewhere else.
If you go to Roadmaster you will be automatic restricted. I was told the cost was a few dollars under seven thousand. Also classes are 6-8 weeks out before you can even start. Had I been treated better from the start, I probably would have enrolled and attended their program.

The instructors are amazing. They try to make you feel comfortable and they may not always show it but they really care. Really enjoyed my experience and those instructors (Mr. Mathews, Mr. Ken, Mr. Dan, and Mr. Rick) were all great instructors and overall great people. What a memorable experience it was. Sincerely, Confident graduate.

I enjoyed my time at Roadmaster Training School, Class 10, 2022 rocked it. We all passed! The instructors and staff were very courteous(they can be funny in a guy way) and helpful during my training. Meet great students wanting better for themselves. Was encouraged by all and felt grateful that they had trust in me to help others which helped me too.
Thank you for the experiences. Grateful for Danny and Chris in helping me improve on my skills and all the other driving instructors to become a better safer and more aware driver. JD was excellent in motivating and running the school. Very excited to be a part of Werner Enterprises family. Pics of most of Class 10 missed a few, So grateful!

Very bad experience here! Just Dale was very nice and also very Professional and hands down good talking with him but in General I heard bad things about this School "Roadmaster" and I decided to leave from there immediately! They asked me to finance $6,990 dollars and they Ran my Credit without my Authorization so I was supposedly Declined and then they gave me an ultimatum so I must come up with some $ 1,500 dollars Cash out if my Pocket so I can start with the Training for the CDL Class.
I changed my mind right there and decided to go with a much better Trucking Company and they didn't asked me for nah money upfront except the Exams and the DOT Medical Card upfront! I am so Happy that now I have my CDL Class A and already started my new Driving Job!. Roadmaster you should be ashamed! Not a good business there! You need to be more Flexible and Help out to some Good People out there instead of asking people for cold Cash up front!. Shame on You!. I'm giving you Less then one Star -1.

I visited the school in December and the staff was amazing they had gave me all the answers to my questions. The only things that had me 2nd guessing this place was the price of tuition was about $6,000 but if you can get financial aid you can have it slashed in half. You may also need to save alot of money for the month that going to the school because you need to focus solely on class and their is alot of information.

I wish everybody good luck the hole year. When I thought about it I'm glad I made my mind up to proceed with the program the pressure will come on and off but it was a lot that helped me I work hard the teachers worked harder to get me to work harder and I feel good about it please don't go there with no attitude just the right attitude will get you through the program the wrong one will deter you from so much to come As for experience pants with very positive I would recommend it to anyone

My experience there at Roadmaster Drivers School was one of the best experience I have had cause I was struggling hard to learn the material and JD(Director) personally came out his office and work with the students that was having a hard time. The instructors Will. Carl. Bill. Dwight. Rick. was all patient and understanding. I got the extra help I needed outside of my 160hrs and pass my test on the first try. It's a awesome school to get your CDL "A"

In 1998 I first got my Class A license (CDL) and after some years I went in a different direction of work, when doing so I let my license expire. 13 years later I decided to go to Roadmasters (Fontana) and get my license again. Mentally I was sure that I wouldn't learn anything new do to the fact I had about 300,000 miles of over the road (OTR) experience, not only was I wrong, as I learned things that I'd never even considered thinking about.
Keep in mind in the 90's a lot of us drivers were taught by experienced drivers of the companies we worked for "but" they really didn't have a designed structure to training, it's just the way it was back then. Turns out that going to Roadmasters in Fontana was the best decision I ever could have made. I not only got my CDL's again but I have been able to "quickly" get employed right out of school and I must say, that me personally, I've never made "so" much money before in my life and if you knew my background you'd understand that is saying a lot.
The instructors are all skilled professionals and can help you obtain the "safe" skills you need to become a professional Class A Truck Driver. Shout out to Robert for "not" letting me quit and to Monica for teaching this old dude some driving techniques that I use everyday on the road. Sending my son to your school to get his professional training. Thanks Roadmasters Fontana

Zero stars. My fiance enrolled and completed all the required paperwork, drug tests, etc. we even went the co-sign route as suggested by the recruiter in order to not have to put down a large payment because that's how important receiving his CDL was. After being in class for only 3 days, him (along with a few other students) were dismissed for failing the practice exams.
Not once were we informed that there was a company wide "zero tolerance" policy and if you fall short on the PRACTICE exams, that you are no longer eligible to continue. We reached out to the recruiter and received a generic " I'm sorry and I'm as disappointed as you are" then in the same breath said "I've never had a student fail in all my years here".
I felt that comment was very belittling and i insensitive. On the outside, Roadmasters portrays themselves as a school who prides themselves on their high graduation rates and personable instructors who "care" about the students when in reality they are just a business (although they are not accredited by the BBB) that scams people and pulls them in with fake promises and lies.

From the moment I walked into Roadmasters, I have received nothing less than outstanding customer service and professionalism. The entire staff is very polite and friendly. They were like my family. Mr. JD, Chris, Danny, Will, Shaun, and Rick were very instrumental in my training. They never hesitated to answer any/all my questions. If I needed clarification, they explained it. Roadmaster Drivers School of Tampa is the best!

My experience was wonderful, exhausting, encouraging and very hot. The instructors and staff were amazing. From the moment we arrived the secretary smiled and was very friendly, JD was caring when issues arrived and did what he could to make issues go away. But the instructors I had the honor to work with made my experience very positive. Sean was my personal driving instructor, his patience is unmatched. Will, although new was very clear on instructions but the one who stands out was Chris.
Without his encouragement when things looked bleak in my eyes and believing in me I would never have done so well. I feel blessed he was in my corner. My one and only negative is standing for 9 hours in 109 degree heat with no shade. Felt very inhumane.

I was happy about finally getting my class A license. I love most of the instructors here but one thing I have to complain about is the long hours you are on your feet. As a truck driver you will spend most of your time sitting down. So why get mad about us sitting down when our feet hurt? Then they start talking about you can't bring your own chair or sit on an abandoned cooler by the trailers because if you're sitting down then they have to take you to the doctor bc you're probably having a heat stroke. Nope, my feet just hurt for standing all day for 10 hours in the hot sun 5 times a week.
This school wouldn't have been so bad if they lived up to their 3 week promise. If you advance too fast they really slow you down. I noticed you're only as fast as your slowest classmate.

Anyone thinking about enrolling in a Truck Driving School to obtain their CDL-A should look no further than Roadmaster. I just secured my license today here in Tampa and graduated. These folks are just the best in the business. You won't just be cycled through. You WILL have to do the work to graduate. It's hard work but the staff are there for you every step of the way! I feel like I have truly earned the ability to move on to the next phase of my career as a professional truck driver.

Roadmaster was a great school from my first day to the last. First week enjoy the inside, you will be crammed with the Information about the truck and the trucking industry PAY ATTENTION you won't regret it. After that first week Fun in the sun. My instructors were great From Carl, Scott, Danny, Chris, Rick and JD either one of these guys are very helpful listen to them. They're going to make sure you know what to do in each situation on the pad don't be afraid to ask about mistakes being mad they will help allow them to help you.

School will get you employment but comes at a cost. You are on their time. You have 11 hour days not getting paid and you are on your feet the entire time. They state they care about you as a student they do not. They also have you pay for housing if you need it and th housing is a crack motel and they do not care to change you rooms even though the hotel is under construction. Overall you will get a job but it's not worth the cost and especially your time.

Great school, but you have to put the work in! I've never been in a big rig in my life and in 5 weeks I got my CDL with the help of the instructors at roadmasters! I faced Adversitie and thought is this for me but I stayed committed and with the practice and help from all the instructors I was able to acquire my CDL my first try. We are all human we experience ups and downs even the instructors.
People will say anything and complain about the instructors but that person didnt put the work in. I would definitely recommend roadmasters and if it were easy everybody would be doing it

Great place to start your driving career! Great instructors an staff with plenty of knowledge. Alot to learn but well worth the investment! If you've been thinking about it do it! Highly recommended and you won't be disappointed! If you study hard and follow directions they will see to it that you don't fail. Don't wait, go get your CDL and change your life! Class #7 2019

This school will get you in and get you out. I recently graduated from the Fontana location and I couldn't be more happy with the school. Monica, David, and Fidel are all wonderful instructors. Every problem I had with any of the skills, they took their time to explain to me what I was doing wrong and how I can avoid those same mistakes. There were a few times I did not like the way my instructor was teaching, so I went and told Monica it David and they allowed me to join their group.
You put in what you get out at that school. They want to see you succeed and get your CDL. My only complaint is that the time shouldn't be from 7am-6pm Monday thru Saturday.that can start to affect you as a student. Other than that. I had a wonderful time at the school. All of the staff was polite and helpful. Keep up the great work Fontana Roadmaster!

I wouldn't suggest this place after having my end experience. I was having difficulty doing the parallel maneuver, I had to wait in their warehouse for 4 hours and was told we couldn't leave because they claimed they were looking for a truck for us to practice in. Me and another female student were still stuck waiting. Then when we finally got practice time, 2 instructors Jeff and Carlton gave me advice on how to cheat for that maneuver. Carlton told me that if I just encroach pass the cones that it will only be points marked off and Jeff told me that if I get too close to the said comes that I should hit the gas and act like I didn't mean to.
Well after taking their advice in, I was failed on encroaching only 2 inches on the rear of my trailer. I had only 1 extra pull up besides the 2 free they give you. I ended up complaining twice to their corporate and the first time I did before testing my 3rd try. They chopped me without even willing to help me with a 4th try. My family believes I was failed "on purpose" because I reported them.
Also corporate called me after I put a negative review with those same instructor names and corporate told me the school was denying they ever gave me such advice! I wouldn't come here. I went to the CR England school in Salt Lake city and passed my first try!

This place is a joke. I drove 45 minutes for a 10:30 appointment to get there wait 20 minutes after my appointment time(10:30) for them to tell me I would have to reschedule. They told me on the phone after completion it would be guaranteed job opportunities, that is a lie. I talked to 3 different people at the school while I was waiting for my 10:30 appointment they told me they graduated 4 weeks ago and still have not got a job.
I hate they wasted my gas and time. The lady in the office sitting at the desk was very rude, she refused to give me my personal information back (social security card and driver's license),s he took copies of both and would not give them to me. I would not ever refer them to nobody.

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! Do Not Waste Your Money! Their idea of training is to yell at you over the radio, "turn left, turn right" which doesn't help you learn anything! The school is continually overcrowded and the instructors are all overworked and grumpy because all they care about is money and they don't give a damn about what happens to you especially if you decide not to work for Werner and have to go to the local DMV to take your CDL test.
They will have at least 6 students assigned to 1 instructor/vehicle which means standing around in the hot sun for 10 hours a day waiting for your 10 minutes behind the wheel and you are not allowed to sit down! They run this place like a prison (which I have never been to unlike most of the other students) with several roll calls where you all have to line up so they can scan you in and out. Don't be late for a roll call or you get locked out and written up which could lead to expulsion.
Bottom line, this place is a joke and a total waste of your time and money! I had to finish my training at another school because of the poor quality training I got here and I drove a bucket truck for 20 years!

I recently graduated from the roadmasters school. Johnny and Leanna from the front office were amazing and helped me every step of the way. The instructors Amanda, Monica, Brian, Jose, Fred, and Robert were amazing. I couldn't have done it without them. If you follow their program and let them teach you, you should have no problem getting your CDL.

Get your cdl and go. It's a good school and you know they're willing to help you but basically you're just a number and if you're there longer than expected to be they will get tired of you and eventually they will stop helping you until you basically give up. Learn all you can from the school do as you're told but when time comes for you to pass and take your DMV test focus on it pass and get out this school. They want you to pass and get out.

I don't know what all these negative reviews are about this school was awesome. I don't think I met a single person there who didn't actually care. They really did a lot to help me out. When the CA DMV was severely backed up they shipped us out to Utah to take our test there. I had a new career on the day I graduated. The training itself is not a walk in the park but with some practice and will power you can do it.
Special thanks to Israel for really looking out and getting me in the door! Amanda and Felipe for being great teachers. Leanne(sp?) for pushing me through to Werner. And to Erich for taking us all the way to Utah!

I will not be attending their CDL course for two reasons. 1 - I had an appointment and was kept waiting for 1 hour before my first interview. I was so frustrated by the time the lady came out and asked me if "I" was ready that I nearly left on the spot. I decided to hear her out as long as I was there. 2 - They want way too much money for the course, nearly $7000, $4000 if you pay upfront. Re-embursment can take up to two years.
I suggest going directly to a carrier for training. My next step was to apply at C.R. England, online, no appointment, no waiting, no run around and I talked to a recruiter the same day who answered all of my questions without a lengthly pointless "interview". They offer free, no cost training with a 9 month commitment to drive for them. The only cost is to get your actual CDL endorsment.
A friend of mine recently went through Roadmasters program, passed and is now driving for Werner. He told me he would have gone somwhere else due to the high cost. When I asked him about England he said he was not aware of their program but now wished he had been. To be honest and complete, I do not know what Roadmaster trainers are like, they might be just fine. I was totally turned off by the recruiter and cost. Good luck
