All our instructors are mature professionals, having undergone extensive testing and training and are Licensed & Certified by the N.Y.S. Dept of Motor Vehicles. All our cars utilize a dual braking system for safe learning. We try to separate ourselves from those 'larger' schools by affording you an enjoyable 'one on one' driving lesson, which is more conducive to learning. 5 Hour Pre Licensing Class
Report
Island driving school offers the 5 hour pre-licensing class mandated by nys. 5 hour classes are held at our two locations; 91 guyon avenue and 740 delafield avenue 4 days a week, registration is required to hold a seat. If you have a temporary permit, you must bring another official/valid form of identification (picture id) . Our 5 hour class is enjoyable and informative; our instructor covers all areas of what you need to know to pass your test, we make it interesting; sharing driving tips and the rules of the road with our students to keep them safe for all the years to come.

My 5 hour class was so enjoyable and educational at the same time, who said learning can't be fun? Bob V. was my instructor and we had a good time. I cant wait to implement what I learned in my lessons and road test; can't forget in real time after obtaining my license. Overall it was definitely a good experience.

My daughter took lessons here, they were so accommodating- she took Saturday lessons with Reggie and she passed her road test on the 1st try. She liked Reggie as her instructor as well. Thank you Reggie for having the patience to teach my daughter and for your general niceness. And thank you Island for the nice lady who helped me book Saturday appts

I am very happy today for my pass result with my first try. Thank God for his amazing blessing. And I really thank my instructor Lenny who taught me very kind, patiently and systematically, he taught me every important tips that have to be aware both in driving and road tests. As well as I really thank to all the people from island driving school, they are so kind and friendly to me. Thanks again my instructor Lenny and island driving school. If anybody looking driving school, I highly recommend to island driving school.

I was extremely nervous before taking the road test. I wasn't sure if I was going to pass or fail and anxiety began to settle in. Shannon, my instructor, gave me words of encouragement and reminded me that Gear, Steer, and Look would be the only ingredients I need to pass and I did! Trust the process!

My name is Jada Hunter and I've recently had driving lessons with Jerry about 2 days ago. This experience was terrible. He was very impatient and rude towards me. When I first got in the car he let me drive without explaining anything first & was in the car saying "scary" because he was scared driving with me. When he redirected me instead of explaining & teaching me the correct way he played a YouTube video.
I will not be booking any lessons with Island driving school anymore, fyi- the car was sooooo dirty and old. Overall, my experience was very rude, and dirty. It felt like the car was gonna break down bc it was so old. After my terrible experience I went with Delight Driving and it was a totally different experience, i had rob as an instructor & it was a completely different experience. I was patiently taught how to turn the wheel & control the car. I can't wait to book my next lesson with him! They're great. :

This is the best driving school in NY! I had tried another school prior and had a horrible experience. I am so thankful for the experience I had with you guys. The office staff was so friendly and helpful. Both my instructors worked with me and told me why I failed my test twice prior. They worked with me on my weaknesses when I was on the verge of giving up on my license and myself.
My instructors made me feel like I actually could do it and believed in me. I passed my road test with the help of my instructors at island driving school. I am so happy I found you guys. Thank you so much for helping me. You guys rock!

I have to admit I was quite nervous starting out to drive. It wasn’t until I took lessons with this school and had Rob as my instructor, that I felt more confident and was prepared for my road test exam. Although he is very strict and will call you out if you do make a mistake, he will make you learn from your mistakes and make sure you will pass your exam.
I am proud to say, I was able to pass my road test today with flying colors and it was all thanks to Rob. I 100% recommend him as an instructor if you are looking forward to not only learn how to pass the exam, but to learn how to drive in the real world.

Very kind people, done everything quick & profesional and great prices for classes & road test. Just took my road test today & passed easily with next to no points l, it was all thanks to Denise. She was very kind, helpful, patient & overall great teaching ability. She explained everything well detailed & gave me great tips hat really helped me and drilled the rules of the road into my head quick. It was thnks to her that I passed without a sweat and Im thankful.

I sent my daughter to this school after trying other schools and I am so happy I did, they were very professional, courteous and friendly, her Instructor Lenny was so nice and patient after just a few lessons my daughter passed her road test, I would recommend this school to anyone looking to get their license.

Firstly, the 5 hour lesson was brilliant! Not a single minute was wasted; we only got useful info. You won't be falling asleep in this guy's class! Oh, and make sure you bring something to take notes with, and give them a look over on the night before the test day... trust me on this. My instructor was Denise and oh boy, does this lady know her stuff! Now I'm a fast learner, sure, but 5 lessons was all it took for me to pass on my FIRST try. Now that is what I call results!
