0/5 stars. Signed up for segment 1 class months ago, verified cost, what to bring to class etc only to drop my daughter off for first day of class today and find the doors LOCKED! She and 10 other kids standing around expecting a class that must have been cancelled, but who would know for sure with NO TEXT, NO CALL, NO EMAIL! They had a sign on the door to say they were short staffed! WHO DOES THAT?

I get they may be struggling for instructors, help etc, but the least they could have done was to call and tell us that they had to cancel the class! I Can't find another class for MONTHS! So disappointed.

I had a really great experience taking my road test here. I was a little bit worried about the bad reviews, but I didn't experience anything like what people are saying. Instructor Pat is extremely kind, and he wants to not only help you as much as possible to pass but also to learn and become a great driver. He gave very constructive feedback which I will make sure to remember.

My grandson took Segment 1 and 2 at this school. My wife and I and grandson were so impressed with the professional manner in which this school is run. Mr. Greg, Ms. Sue and Ms. Jess were most helpful and considerate of all of our questions and concerns. They all helped us to understand the course and what to expect. My grandson felt very comfortable and enjoyed each teacher.

They all made him feel relaxed and enjoy learning about what it takes to become a skilled driver. Hats off to the above teachers who went over and above their duties to help my grandson enjoy learning how to be an excellent and aware driver. I would recommend this school to all students who need to be educated in becoming an informed driver. Thank you for the wonderful service you provide.

My daughter took her driving test here. Everyone in the office was very professional and friendly. The instructor was top notch. He clearly gave directions to my daughter and explained everything in detail. At the end of the test, he went over a few small things to work on, but overall gave her a great score. I saw some negative reviews in the comments and had to be sure and write a review.

If you look closely at those comments, it was those that didn't pass. I don't think it's fair to the company to give them a poor review because the driver wasn't ready for the test.

I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before taking my daughter here for her road test. It was a terrible experience. Avoid this company! First of all, the office staff is rude. They don't return phone calls promptly, and the receptionist is unprofessionally unfriendly. Second, the place makes money off scamming you. They charge a surcharge for using your credit card, which I only learned when I arrived, and won't even accept checks.

But the most important point is that they have a reputation for intentionally failing students for infractions that are not serious (minor mistakes that are not on the state SOS list of infractions that are grounds for failure) so you will come back and pay a re-test fee to take the road test again. I witnessed it myself. When I described what happened to a different professional road instructor, he couldn't believe it.

I confirmed that the mistake was not grounds for an automatic failure. Anyone who experiences this should report Academy to the MI Secretary of State's office for shady business practices. Save your money. If you're in the Troy/Bloomfield/Birmingham area, check out Alert instead. It might be a few bucks more, but you won't waste your money on a scam.

I was very nervous to take my test here considering all of the previous negative reviews, but I am happy to say that I had a wonderful experience. My instructor Sue had a very calming and considerate presence. She was very pleasant to talk to throughout my test. I think many of the previous negative reviews are written by angry parents who are upset that their child didn't pass their driving test.

These instructors have a very serious job, and if they do not follow the rules then they could be letting unsafe drivers have a license and putting other people in risk of serious danger. They shouldn't be passing people who do not demonstrate safe and legal driving skills. Make sure you have your proper paperwork (valid insurance/registration), your vehicle is in working condition, and that you actually take the time to read the "What Every Driver Must Know" and the "Driving Skills Test Study Guide" documents (both available online) and you will do just fine!

I had a very good experience with them. They are a bunch of very professional people. My instructor, Erin, is a great guy. He knows his stuff. His instructions were very helpful and practical. My examiner Arnie was another great guy. He made my driving test experience very smooth. It's very important during your test to be calm and he gave the perfect atmosphere to drive without undue comments or interference. Overall, it was a very rewarding experience for me. I learnt a lot, got my DL and now am a better driver. Do visit them if you want proper learning. Thanks.

I had Arnie Vandercruyssen as my road tester, and he was very good. He was calm, collected, and would tell me what I did wrong on the road. It was not stressful at all, and we talked, which helped me feel like it was just a normal day driving in the city. If you need to take a road test, or want to take one here, ask for Arnie. The location is great, and their classes were very informative on how to pass the road test.

I took a road test last week, at Academy Driving School with Mr Arnie, who is an instructor here. He is a very warm, kind and wonderful person, who completely diffuses the test stress that any new comer would carry. He nicely explains all the test procedures and also guides you, if you were to commit mistakes during driving. I completely recommend this place, for all beginners.
