In business since 1954. Rae's Driving School is one of the oldest, continually-run driving schools in Connecticut.
Rae's Driving School began as the child of Rachel "Rae" Contento, a pioneer in women-run small businesses. She started with one car and a classroom rented a few nights a week from Yale University. Due to her business acumen, her love for her students, and her dedication to their sifted - Rae's Driving School quickly outgrew its humble resources and she moved to a retain space in East Haven.
In the mid-1980's, Rae hired Mark Maturo as a new fill-time instructor. Mark was an engineer for Ives in New Haven before Ives downsized. He quickly demonstrated to Rae his engineering ability to critically think and solve problems. When it was time for her to retire, she first approached Mark about buying the business and he gladly accepted.
Mark also seemed to have the same blessings for business, a love of teaching, and desire to keep students safe. Because of this, he was able to branch out to the suburban landscape of Madison. Mike, a young instructor, was hired to manage East Haven, which eventfully moved to North Haven and branched out to other corners of the state.
Currently, Mark is the president of Rae's, and manager of the Madison branch. By a cosmic twist of fate, a young and very talented lady named Rachel manages North Haven.

Idk how people have bad reviews about this place, the instructors were great, they picked up the phone when I called AT A REASONABLE TIME and they even got my CS1 certificate for me a day after completing the course. If you're going for a quick drug and alcohol class at a good price this is the place to go

Please don't let the negative reviews get your attention. This is the 2nd time that I've used this driving school for my daughters. Considering that this place had to close because of Covid they are handling things very well. Drug and alcohol course is held often, on the road for 2 hours will happen within a few weeks of you turning in your paperwork and a check.
