AA Indiana Driving School was established in 1945, making it the first driving school licensed by the State of Indiana and is family owned and operated. To obtain a driver education permit, students must be at least 15 years of age. We will need to see the student's birth certificate or current Passport, in order to issue the state form C.D.E. You must be enrolled in a 30-hour online or traditional classroom class AND the 6 behind-the-wheel lessons to get your permit at 15 years old. Otherwise you can't get your permit until you are 16 years of age.
Services
AA Indiana Driving School was established in 1945, making it the first driving school licensed by the State of Indiana and is family owned and operated. AA Indiana Driving School is under the direction and supervision of qualified professional educators; a staff of current and former school teachers.
Rick has taught driver's education for over forty years. Thirty-three of those years were teaching in a high school setting and the last 7 here at AA Indiana Driving School. He and his wife are from Terre Haute, Indiana and had their teaching careers in Vincennes where Rick was a fifth-grade teacher for 35 years and His wife, Jenny, was an art teacher and later a high school guidance counselor.
The online driver education program is designed for students to be able to take the "in-class" portion of the course at their own pace. Students can access the program 24/7, but may not complete the course any sooner than two 2-weeks (14 days) because of state time guidelines. The program does have stops and makes students take a break between each module.
This option is our best deal and is perfect for teenagers 15 years or older who want to obtain their permit as early as possible (16 years & 90 days). The package meets all the state requirements for driver's education. This option also allows the student to take the Road Test with us and not have to at the BMV.

Highly Recommended. Great School. Best experience ever. Neat Cars, Excellent instructors and professional management sums up the school. All my instructors are excellent teachers and are very cool and patient. Classes begin at the scheduled time and for 1 hour duration. During the classes, Instructors made sure that i understand the rules correctly and they have corrected my mistakes.

I enrolled for full course (30 hrs online and 6 behind the wheels), It is definitely worth it and successfully got my license. There was a issue getting my license with BMV. Tina personally followed up with BMV and visited BMV with me and helped me in getting the license. Thankyou Brent, Larry, Kent, Tina and Rhonda for your help. The experience was super cool.

The instructors are great at guiding teen drivers and the lessons progress at a good pace. The driving test experience was much better with them than at the bmv. Definetly recommend!

Update: I had a second teen go thru this driving school. Very smooth process and my daughter enjoyed her drives with Mr. Ward. He was pleasant and communicative. Overall our experience has been great. We ran into a few bumps on driving lessons through no fault of AA Indiana Driving school with weather issues and then the COVID shut down. I have been impressed with how the driving school has adapted and worked with us through this time period.

My son had no issues with any of the instructors and had a great experience with Mike Ward. We were a little concerned after reading some of the reviews regarding other's experience with this particular instructor online previously but we found the complete opposite. He was pleasant and extremely helpful on the phone and my son enjoyed his driving time with Mike.

I started their class to help me to drive and fell confident while doing it. I've loved everything about it they help me understand what I'm doing wrong and explain to me what needs working on and how to do that. Overall I've had the best time and can't wait to take more of my classes. 4/20/22 I just did my road test with Marty and it was fantastic.

I end up passing and I was so nervous but Rhonda, and Priscilla help calm me down. I've had the most wonderful experience with them and can't thank them enough for all they have so for me.

Can't thank Indiana Driving School enough for the wonderful lessons and confidence the classes gave me, I was so scared to drive in USA, and they gave me the confidence to make it. I am thankful with Tina and Kent for everything they teach me. This school was highly recommended to me, and now it's my pleasure to recommend this school to YOU : you will love to drive

I had such a great experience with AA Driving School! The instructor was always on time and I learned a lot about driving! The receptionist, Priscilla, is just lovely! When scheduling your lesson/lessons, definitely check out Marty! He's really encouraging and you definitely can tell that he loves his job!

Miss Tina is an outstanding instructor. She was able to instruct my adult daughter with Asperger's over several months. Today we go to get her drivers license which is a day I wasn't sure would ever happen. Tina explains concepts and ideas clearly and makes sure the student understands. She is always positive and upbeat and a blessing to our family. We can't recommend AA Driving school enough!

I loved AA Indiana Driving School. My instructor for the majority of my lessons was Mr. Brent Neeley. He was extremely patient, calm, and informative throughout every lesson. It was a relaxing atmosphere where nothing about it was stressful and I knew I was in good hands. His parallel parking technique is "unparalleled". He taught parallel parking in a methodical way.

It was extremely difficult to make a mistake after learning his steps to parallel parking. After learning with Mr. Neeley, I am sure that his way of teaching has helped me to be a safe driver. I highly recommend AA Indiana Driving School.

Just a great place to get your driving lessons done. All of the staff is friendly, and do not add any stress to driving, Brent in particular. I enjoyed his ability to drive a conversation while retaining focus on driving as well. He was very fun to drive with. The online course is also good too, it just takes a while to get through like they all do. Would recommend.

The best experience by far! Kent and Brent were my favorite instructors, highly recommend them. Learned more in one lesson than any of my family members in years. They're patient and super funny which help me relax when driving since I've never been on the highway. I didn't have a single bad experience even though I had to take the 6-hour lessons twice.

My son LOVED the instructors at AA. He was reluctant to start, but the instructors helped him gain the confidence he needed and now he's likely the best driver in the family. Huge thanks to Marty for making the road test less stressful for him. Both of my sons learned to drive through them. Highly recommend AA Indiana Driving School to anyone seeking calm, professional instruction.

We had a fantastic experience at the AA Indiana Driving School. It was extremely easy to book lessons and if I had trouble with their online system they took care of me right away. The instructors were very patient and encouraging to my nervous driver and they put her completely at ease. She truly looked forward to each and every lesson. Fabulous experience!

I am rewriting and upgrading my review of AA Indiana Driving School to reflect our improved experience with them. Initially I gave them a low rating because of the way they were releasing weekly drivers scheduling only on Fridays between 3-5pm. Although they are still doing that - you have to log in between those hours in order to schedule driving times for your student and you can only book 2 at a time - I have finally gotten the hang of it and they are now offering more driving slots so that my daughter is finally getting her driving lessons. Also, my daughter feels like she is getting good instruction and tips from the instructors she has driven with so far.

Thank you for certifying my two boys - one went through your school two years ago and my second just completed his last drive with you. Instructors were great. Definitely would recommend. Online classes worked well and was able to schedule drives in plenty of time before their ability to get their license.

We found the school to be fine - met our expectations. Reading all these reviews, I see a lot of complaints. My advice based on our experience: Schedule the driving portions in advance as they fill fast. If you forget to cancel, there is a $30 charge. This happened to us as my daughter forgot to remind me of her lesson but it was clear in the contract so it didn't surprise me.

When they had to cancel, they always called me to advise and re-scheduled the lesson. My daughter said the instructors were OK. They are what they are - they're driver ed instructors, not customer service reps. This company seems old fashioned in their office, using a lot of paper, not a lot of automation. Feels like a small town operation.

If I could give "0" stars I would. Don't use this company. We scheduled a few dates ahead and inputted into my calender. We cancelled one and went to all others. When I called today to schedule last 2, the secretary was rude and said I missed out last (5th) date and didn't cancel. I never had that date! They said we had to pay $30 for that cancelation.

I said we didn't have that date and we would definitely have called to cancel. They insisted they were right. BEWARE! You are STUCK with them. I have others kids. I will definitely NOT use them or recommend their shady business they don't even call to remind and they insist they gave you a date I definitely DID NOT HAVE! And now we not only have to pay for a date we didn't schedule but we are STUCK with this unprofessional firm. We hope to finish ASAP so we can be done w our last 2 drivers classes. Find another firm. Avoid this one. Really!

I definitely would NOT recommend this school. The classroom portion was fine but trying to schedule drive times has been a huge pain since day one. I put my son on their never ending wait list back in October and was told I'd get a call when they could get him in. In November I still hadn't heard from them so I called again and was told that he was still number 59 (or some ridiculous high number) on the wait list.

We still didn't get a call from them in December so I ended up having to call them and the process continued to go downhill ever since. Their schedule is always full and they for whatever the reason can't seem to schedule further than two weeks out so we're always having to call back. Worse experience I've ever had with a company.

What a joke this place is! They take all of your money up front. The on line classes were slow to load the videos and my daughter got frustrated. Calling the 800 Customer Service number was no help as the girl on the line didn't understand what the problem was. We needed an extension for the on-line portion of the class because of school work load and they were very snotty about it-only gave an extra 30 days. Scheduling the drives is so frustrating - we got one class and have to call back each week. Either hire more drivers or quit taking more students! Would recommend you go to another driving school

People who teach you driving could be super rude and raise their voices while you are doing your practice driving. It could sometimes sound exactly like your dad's or mum's yelling when you make a mistake. My 2 times own experience with MIKE wasn't good and friendly. If you make some mistakes, get ready to be unkind and high reaction from Mike.

If we wouldn't make any mistakes why would we come to the school and learn. If you would yell at me or be unkind and loose your temper when I make mistake, why would I come and expect help from school that I expect they would have kind and helpful teachers - I would ask my dad or friends instead. And in addition why do I pay you guys? just to be rude and yelling at me all the time. You should make students feel comfortable not nervous. Being nervous may cause an any accident also. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT :-

Classes were good. Scheduling drives can be a problem. Waiting for the calls back can be annoying. Maybe getting an automated system to schedule would be helpful.

Agree with the below comments about the receptionist being rude. I was reminded before scheduling a drive that even to REschedule, you have to pay $30. So, basically, life can't happen. Don't get sick, or have a death in the family or have to go out of town, it won't matter here. Instead, you will have to pay $30 and not get another drive time until you pay the $30.

The receptionist obviously knows this is wrong and has to argue with people about it frequently because she instantly becomes rude, her tone of voice changes and she is ready to go to battle! Not professional at all. Getting drive times to fit your life is difficult as well, they stay pretty booked and they remind you it's not their issue. The policy about rescheduling isn't realistic for today's busy families.

I can only schedule one drive at a time because if something changes, I have to pay $30 to reschedule! I'm beginning to think we paid $355 for my son to take the classes only.

Our experience has been pretty good. My daughter took the online class and liked that she could go at her own pace. Once completed we took the certificate to the office and scheduled the road lessons. We did not experience any issues that others have stated. We found the people to be helpful and they explained the process to us and especially what to do if we needed to reschedule a drive. The instructors have been good and my daughter has been comfortable with the instructions she has received.

They finally called to schedule an appointment with my daughter two weeks after she finished the online course. We arrived on a Saturday at 8:50am. At 9am, they said they made a mistake and wrote down the wrong Saturday. They should have to pay me $30 for screwing up the schedule and using our gas money to drive over 35 minutes to get there. Look at A+!

The secretary is rude and lack any considerateness. They called to confirm a driving time but we missed the call. When we returned the call no one answered. Not knowing what to do we missed the appointment and they charged us $30 to reschedule when they didn't answer!

Rude people. Receptionist is the worse. Apparently they don't have to be nice because there isn't a lot of competition.

Driving instructor yelled at my daughter. If I wanted yelling, I could have taught her to drive myself. Driving instructors don't give parents feedback or suggestions. When I did get one to talk to me, he was very short & unhelpful. If you expect pleasantness, friendliness, feedback, help or even general politeness, you will be disappointed.

Rude people who seem to take delight in screwing their customers over. You can hear the glee in their voices when they tell you no or that you have to pay more money. Receptionist is the worse.
