I was very nervous to drive as an adult learner. Mark was a great teacher and helped me feel confident about my driving. He also taught me useful driving techniques beyond just what was on the driving test. He was honest about my driving skills and explained problem areas in a very straightforward manner. He never yelled if I messed up and he was very patient.

Thanks to him, parallel parking was the easiest part of my road test and I now have my license! Prices are easy to find on the website (no hidden fees or unexpected costs). I also like that his driving school only takes one student at a time to the driving test. Mark is in high demand as an instructor, so it is harder to schedule classes with him than with other instructors at the school, but it was worth it for me.

I highly recommend Gotham and mark in particular. I never had issues with scheduling and Irene normally picked up the phone when I called (she was always lovely over the phone). Note that DMV road tests are scheduled months in advance right now (I heard they closed a while during covid so that might be why it's backed up) so if the driving school schedules your test, don't be surprised if it's 2-3 months from now, but it's not Gotham's fault. If you want a sooner test, you need to schedule yourself and keep checking at all hours because you can find canceled earlier appointments that way on the DMV website.

Mark is an excellent and very professional driving instructor. He taught both of our sons to drive and made sure they were ready to drive down the highway of life. He has just the right temperament to deal with young new less-experienced drivers.

I went to three different driving schools. This one I liked the best. Bonnie was my instructor. Firstly, she is nice a person. Very friendly. She is like a neighbor. (she is a neighbor). Sometimes, she is in a funny mood but that's her charm. She let me drive however I want and helped me only when I need. For other schools, I felt like they don't care if I pass the test or not. But she cares. I passed with Bonnie's instruction. (I failed the test terribly with 90 points with another school.lol) You can do it if I could do it.

I have a foreign license and needed to get my American one. Gotham is a great driving school. Mark was my instructor and he was brilliant at preparing me for the test and getting me used to the roads. Everything was efficient from booking lessons and the test to the actual practical lessons and test day. I did 3 lessons and used the instructor's car for the test. Highly recommended.

Really bad service. Don't even recommend to call, the lady that always picks up the phone is very rude. I called to schedule one class and she refused to give it to me. Sounded like all she cares about is money, not to mention racist.

Andy from Gotham driving school helped me finally pass my driving test after attempting it 3 times before. He was very patient with me and extremely supportive, thus helping me get more confident in my driving skills. The driving test in NY is not easy and requires lots of practice. He gave very good advice which I put to use during the actual exam and answered all my questions.

I would recommend Gotham driving school if you have some experience driving but are looking to improve either to pass the New York driving test or have not driven for a while.

I cannot fully express the depth of my gratitude enough for this great driving school! Their instructor Mark finally was able to help me gain the confidence and skills to pass my test (this is the 6th Attempt!) and get my driver's license. Mark is not only patient but extraordinarily adept in teaching you not only how to drive skillfully but also how to think ahead of the next move, be careful, use the horn when you have to, and instill good sense where you need it the most.

The dreaded five-hour class was suddenly instructive, informative and downright funny with his witty commentary. I wish I had gone to Gotham 10 years ago when I was so thwarted by my last instructor who taught using beanie babies and geometry sketches! I had a very satisfying experience with Gotham Driving School. I took the pre-licensing course along with 6 driving lessons. Thanks to their outstanding support services, I passed the road test on my first try! Irene was very helpful on registering me for classes and signing-up me for the road test. Mark made the pre-licensing class engaging by going over the basics of starting the car to discussing certain road hazard scenarios. Andy is an awesome driving instructor.

He was very patient, approachable, and made me feel comfortable while on the road. He provided excellent feedback and shared insightful driving tips, such as useful tips on how to parallel park. Thanks to Andy's driving instructions, it taught me how to be a safe driver. Feeling nervous and having very little driving experience, everyone on the team (Irene, Mark, and Andy) made it a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend their services.

My brother bought me a birthday gift last year, 3 lessons and a driving course class, I had a year on it but I was very busy lot of family stuff going on. I called today and asked if I can extend it just a bit so I don't loose out on the money. The lady I spoke to was the nastiest woman not only did she scream at me saying ' You had a year on this it's not my fault you didn't use it' I tried to explain to her I had a lot of personal things going on not only she didn't want to hear it she was rude, unpleasant and straight out nasty as can be.

I don't recommend this place to anyone trying to get there license. The lady is the manger, how she became a manger is a surprise to me. She has 0 customer service. Stay Away!

I went here to take my driver's test and passed after failing twice before without using the school

I passed the test thanks to my instructor Andy. He is very professional, respects your time and always give positive criticism. Even with first few lessons I felt a significant improvement with my diving. Irene is also very kind, efficient and helpful. My schedule was very challenging and she managed to schedule my lessons as well as driving test in small window of opportunity I had. I highly recommend this driving school.

I took five class package along with road test that went perfect for me. Mark is a very nice and decent instructor, he never yelled at me for my mistakes during lessons, he taught each and every step in a pretty nice way.the only thing which bothered me is about the school management, that they made the road test appointment on some other day which I asked for and they didn't even inform me about that.well the good thing is that I passed my road test in first attempt and I definitely recommend to take driving lessons with Mark

Professional, reliable, informative and supportive! Both the class and the driving instruction were top notch! Really glad I found them close by. Now that I got my license, I'm going to take their Defensive Driving Course, to reduce insurance rates by 10%. I much prefer to be in a classroom learning with others than on line!

I passed my road test this morning thanks to God, prayers of loved ones and last but not least; the best driving instructor I've ever known, Mark! The lessons with him were worth every penny. He's patient, knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. He really takes what skills you have (or lack thereof) and HELPS you make them exponentially better.

He makes you believe in yourself, gives you (working!) tools and puts them to the test! I had only 3 lessons with him and in those 3 lessons, my confidence has risen greatly. I used to be unbelievably afraid of driving, had two terrible instructors prior to him and did not believe I could obtain my license. Well, I did and I'm so happy. I now have the privilege and freedom of driving that once seemed out of my reach. I'm not a perfect driver but I'll keep learning and sharpening the tools Mark gave me! Oh and btw, it was through yelp that I found Gotham! A big thank you to everyone who took the time out to write a review.

They are the best. I felt like it was a sign to go to their driving school. For years i had to get my license. I passed their office everyday at work. One day i decided to go in. Irene is wonderful. She set up my lessons according to my schedule, and everything went well from that. Eddy and Mark are THE BEST instructors i ever had. They explained the road test you as you drive to ensure that u kno the road. I love the fact they want u to understand the rules of the road.

I am happy to say that I had passed my road test today! I couldn't have done it without Mark. He is a great instructor! I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn how to drive properly. Mark's instruction on different elements of how to park and do the three point turn is spot on. Parking has always been a problem area for me. But, following his simple steps on how to parallel park was perfect.

On the road test it was not a problem for me. We had a lesson before the road test and everything he went over was exactly how it turned out. I can't say anything more highly of him. He is awesome. I'm going to miss my lessons with him. He is a fun guy. It was very comfortable driving with him. Thanks again Mark!

I had been trying to get my license for years when I had previously lived in Canada with my family, and had failed a few times. When I decided to get my license in New York, I found Gotham through Google and Yelp, and I'm very glad I did. I did both the pre-licensing course and a 4-hour lesson package with Mark, along with my road test appointment.

He was clear, straightforward, friendly and relaxed and managed to put some confidence in someone who had become quite disillusioned with driving. I managed to pass my road test on the first try, and I owe a lot to Mark and Gotham for that!

I had an amazing experience with Gotham. Very Professional and nice people - from Irene the receptionist to Mark my instructor. I passed my road test on my second try. I was prepared but too nervous on my first try. I'm an older adult who never wanted to drive. Their consistent encouragement and support made all the difference. After having driving lessons with the wrong instructor I have started my lessons with Gotham Driving School. Purchased 5,1 hour lessons and I must admit, Loving driving around now enjoying the freedom. I've noticed tremendous improvement and progress straight away, just after 1st lesson. Mark is a great instructor and identifies learning gaps immediately.

He creates very good, stress free atmosphere which helps a lot with learning. I would like to thank Mark, who put in a lot of time to ensure that I was prepared. He took a great approach in how he taught me throughout the lessons and also made sure that I was given the right amount of lessons before taking the test. I felt very grateful that he showed great care towards the idea of me passing my driving test.

He shows a large amount of commitment to his students and the techniques he uses in order to initially teach you how to drive is easy to understand and allows you to drive at a high standard at all times, which is perfect preparation for your driving test. I would definitely recommend Mark to anyone trying to learn how to drive, especially if you want to pass first time.

In terms of Gotham Driving School as a whole I feel they were very efficient in terms of how quickly they were able to provide me with my first lessons, they ensured that I was given an instructor of a high standard, they have reasonable prices especially for the service they are providing and they constantly communicate with you with elements such as calling/texting you to remind you of the days of your lessons.

Would definitely recommend Gotham Driving School and I thank them for helping me. Irene (the administrative assistant) is very helpful and friendly. All thanks to my instructor it was a enjoyable experience that I looked forward to. Put at ease straight away and felt comfortable with Mark. Thanks Gotham!

Took my pre-licensing class here along with 5 hours of driving classes. Each class is an hour long where you drive through the busy streets of the Bronx and the quite streets of Riverdale. They make sure to schedule a class right before your scheduled road test so you go in warmed up. They also schedule the road test for you if you want. I was driving for a bit with my permit so my skills were pretty good but I don't think I would've passed if it wasn't for all the pointers Marc and Eddy gave me. They've been doing this for over 16 years so they have a lot of wisdom to pass down.

They are very well versed on the road test and the latest rules of the road. Marc is a great instructor I had him for 4 of my 5 classes and he is a very chill and friendly dude who always constructively criticizes I've never once felt demeaned or angry with him. He has great stories to tell and a great sense of humor and the hour just zips by!

I would definitely recommend taking one class with Eddy because he is very tense and it kinda simulated the real test for me which was great practice. He will point out every little mistake you make but it's good and makes you a better driver. The lady at the front desk, Irene, is also very nice! She kinda talks like my mom. All in all, great class, great instructors, great school!

What a horrible experience with this school. I signed up for 6 classes and the 5 hour class. I wound up taking 2 classes. My instructor Eddy raised his voice at me during the lessons, grabbed my arm twice, asked "what is wrong with me" when I made a wide turn. When I tried to ask him questions on technique he told me to "drop it" and cut me off. When I called the office to cancel the rest of my classes his wife refused to refund the money on the card I paid with - stating she didn't want to be charged from the bank.

And after a 20 min phone call she said she will refund the balance less $10 via check. I can't say how the other instructors are but I would never go back to this school or recommend them to anyone.

Eddy couldn't have been more professional, patient, or efficient! I'd recommend Gotham to anyone in need of either training for a license test or in need (like me) of brushing up on their skills. He has a natural way of putting you at ease and simplifying even the most complicated of driving techniques (hello parallel parking). And the rates are very reasonable.

When other drivers pull up next to you during a lesson to tell you what a great driving school it is and a random lady in an elevator sees you get out of the Gotham car and tells you that she "loves Eddy" you know its good. I had Eddy for all my lessons, great, patient instructor. He knows how to put you at ease behind the wheel of a car. I had driven maybe twice in my life before lessons and passed the test on the first try.

A great school to learn how to drive. or in my case, relearn how to drive. I got my license during my senior year of high school, but didn't drive once I got it. Now, years and years later, for various reasons I need to know how to drive. My instructor Mark Goldstein was my instructor, and he's great. He's patient and can judge your skill after the first few lessons to tailor what you need work on in future lessons. I'm glad I found this school. Now I feel confident in my skills to drive anywhere I need to go.
