Currently we are advising parents that the online or my personal class can be started immediately. The classroom phase can be done immediately. There is no waiting period. Once the classroom phase is completed, the parents can decide if they want to go on with our availability for the driving portion. The online is at the student's own pace while our personal class will take about seven weeks.
It is advisable that the student take my in-class since it is better than the online version. My personal class covers material beyond any text and includes all of my many years of experience.

Roadmasters was started by me in Santa Barbara, California in 1990. Prior to that, I worked for another drive school for three years in order to qualify for my own school according to California law. I have always enjoyed driving from the time I first began to drive. I do not regret my choice to teach instead of doing an office job.
Take the student to the DMV by making an appointment. Take the birth certificate and a VOC letter from the middle school or high school. Tell the DMV which school you want the permit go to. The DMV will charge about 21.50. There will be an eye test only. It takes about 2 weeks for the card to be sent.

My son started the in person class in February. It took 7 weeks to finish them. We then waited more than 2 months for my son to be able to start behind the wheel training. By the time my son finished that and was handed his permit, it had taken almost 6 months! Do NOT sign your kid up for Roadmasters unless you have almost half a year to waste! The owner takes on WAY too many kids and has no idea how to run his business efficiently. What a mistake.

We really appreciated Roadmasters teaching our son to drive in real world situations. I've driven in Idaho for 20 years.and let me tell you this area could use more drivers being educated by Tony. My son was halfway through his classroom instruction when COVID hit. Tony offered him to go to the online option, but our son wanted to stick with Tony's classroom education, so our 15 year old boy was willing to wait - that says something right there as far as I'm concerned. Tony was firm, encouraging and actually TEACHES kids to drive, not just pass tests. I am very grateful. Thanks, Roadmasters!
