I took the Car Control Course as an employee of the City of Portland. I highly recommend this course for a company to put employees through this training for driving company vehicles and also the parent who wants their newly driving teen to get more experience with driving. Not only does the course provide you with skills to handle skids and slides, it is also a good experience to learn about looking and planning ahead, which is also just good to re-learn as an experienced driver. Plus, the course was really fun!

Took both kids to the defensive driving/skid car classes. They each felt they learned a great deal and really enjoyed the experience. As time has gone on, they also like to come home and tell me when they actually use these techniques on the road. I wish our auto insurance gave us a discount for this, but I that just means we need to switch companies, more than likely!

I just took the car control class. After a lifetime of avoiding getting into a skid it was useful to actually make the car skid and practice the skills to control the car. The instructor was excellent, efficient, plenty of practice in the car. The business is making an effort to follow COVID safety protocol. Great class for a new driver but also for others who have avoided skidding all their life and can learn some skills for if or when it happens.

ProDrive is awesome. Having started in this school, I was able to use the skills I learned at ProDrive to win many races, a championship, and 3 24-hour races. Todd Harris is well connected in the racing community, and know nationally as a top driver. He's very knowledgeable, but humble guy that I've always respected and trusted. If your serious about racing sports cars in the most competitive arena, and can listen (the best attribute of a driver), this is the best option for driving schools in the Northwest!

I've taken two classes from Pro Drive, their skid-car class and their 3-day racing school. Both times I came away disappointed. Don't get me wrong, you learn skills in both classes; but the feedback and driving instruction offered by the Pro Drive team is lacking. Pro Drive is the only school in Portland offering these types of courses, which is too bad because the skills they attempt to teach are worthwhile.
My beef is their feedback is vague and ambiguous, which compromises the learning of the students. The instructors there are mostly amateur drivers who are not well trained in how to coach driving skills. When I approached them with issues I was having they responded with heuristics and vague hypotheses on what could be going wrong. I hired them for precise feedback and direct instruction.
Both times I received neither. If you want a cheap skid car class take their skid car class; but, if you want to drop big bucks for high quality feedback, find a more professional outfit like BMW's driving school where instructors are professional drivers who are also professionally trained in providing driving instruction.
